About this event
Ali Ray's art documentary takes a close look at Renoir through the National Gallery's exhibition, with expert commentary and access to the paintings. The Exhibition on Screen film from Seventh Art Productions was made with the National Gallery and Musée d'Orsay.
The underlying exhibition brings together 45 works from the mid-1860s to the mid-1880s, tracing love, desire, affection, flirtation, friendship and family bonds. Its café, theatre and leisure scenes put those relationships into the public and private life of Renoir's Paris.
The advertised showing is Sunday 24 January at 7pm, but please confirm the programme with the box office before booking or travelling. The theatre also advertises Hay Fever in the same auditorium at the same time, so this screening remains subject to clarification.
The venue lists Renoir as PG and allows 90 minutes, though final classification and running time need confirmation. No exact finishing time, subtitles, captions or audio description have been confirmed for this showing.
Front of House and the bar normally open an hour before a show; this is general guidance rather than a guaranteed auditorium door time. Step-free access to stalls, bar, ticket collection and the accessible toilet is through the Bar entrance, with a narrow, uneven pavement and slope on the approach.
The balcony and gallery have stairs and no lift, while four wheelchair spaces with companion seating are held for each performance. A hearing loop is available; arrange individual access requirements through the box office on 01608 642350.
Free long-stay parking is at New Street, OX7 5NF, and Albion Street, OX7 5BJ; avoid parking outside on narrow Spring Street. If travelling by train or bus, check Sunday connections and the return journey before committing to an evening screening.
Owner review: Renoir booking instance 614402 and Hay Fever instance 670801 both advertise 24 January at 7pm in The Theatre. Hay Fever is retained in draft drafts.2f0e0bf4-da15-4b9d-8f97-bc46bfa2299c; these are distinct films with an unresolved schedule clash, not duplicate records.
Owner review: the distributor marks the 90-minute runtime provisional, and other cinema listings retain classification TBC against this venue's PG label. Confirm both with the venue before publication, alongside the programme clash.
Ticketed. Confirm the Sunday evening programme before booking.
