The band that opened the season is back to close it

Cirencester Band played the first Bands in the Park date back in July, and their return on the final Sunday of the series brings the summer programme full circle at the Abbey Grounds bandstand. The band has been part of the town's musical life since 1919, when it gave its first performance at Cirencester's Armistice Parade, and still rehearses weekly at Bingham House on Dyer Street.

Alongside the main band, Cirencester Band runs a training band for beginners and adult returners, so there's likely to be a mix of youth and experience in the ranks for this closing set. Sundays at the bandstand have run since early July, funded by the Cirencester Community Development Trust, with a different local band taking the stand each week. This is the one that gets to send the season off.

Bring a chair or a picnic rug and settle in under the abbey's trees for two hours of brass on a September afternoon.
