About this event
Cluedo the stage play keeps a trick from the 1985 film it's adapted from: the murderer isn't fixed. Sandy Rustin's script, now one of the most performed whodunnit comedies on the amateur circuit, carries several different solutions and rotates between them, so Thursday's cast may have named a different culprit than Friday's did. Saturday closes Buttercross Theatre Productions' three-night run at the Corn Exchange, and there's no guarantee tonight's answer matches either.
Six guests arrive at a remote country house under invented names, handed a shifting arsenal by a butler who's clearly done this before. Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs White and the rest each have a motive and an alibi that won't survive questioning, the body count climbs faster than the explanations, and the plot gets more ridiculous scene by scene as the cast races to land on somebody, anybody, before the lights go up.
Whoever gets the blame tonight, it's the last chance to see this particular ending land in Witney.
