Gelli-printed birds, woven rainbows and sky collages: three crafts in one day

Lindsay Viner packs three distinct making processes into this single day in the Scissors Studio, each rooted in a sky theme.

Children begin with gelli plate printing, building up layered textured prints that they then cut and arrange into their own bird designs. The session moves on to weaving, with each child making a small rainbow from yarn while working through colour combinations and simple loom techniques. The day ends with a sun or moon collage in the style of contemporary collage artist Clare Youngs, using shape and bold composition to produce something with a clean, considered finish.

For 8 to 12 year olds. All materials are provided; bring a packed lunch. 10am to 4pm. Book through the New Brewery Arts website.
