About this event

The crime, travel and paintings behind Caravaggio

Andrew Graham-Dixon's lecture follows Caravaggio through Milan, Rome, Naples, Sicily and Malta, where religion, violence and powerful patrons shaped the artist's world. Expect a close look at the paintings alongside the scraps of evidence Graham-Dixon has spent a decade piecing together.

Graham-Dixon is an art critic, author and broadcaster whose biography Caravaggio: A Life Sacred and Profane was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction. The evening brings that research to the stage, with the paintings' drama, immediacy and humanity at its centre.

The theatre has level or ramped access from the car park, disabled parking, two wheelchair spaces and one companion space per performance. Seating layouts vary, so contact the box office if you need a particular arrangement; on-site parking is paid inside using your vehicle registration.

Ticketed. Tickets are selling fast, so check current availability before travelling.
