Bampton Day of Dance
About
Bampton Day of Dance
Bampton's Day of Dance takes place on Spring Bank Holiday Monday; the 2027 date is 31 May. Three local Morris sides move between pubs, streets and public spaces, with some dances in private gardens. Morris dancing is documented in Bampton from 1847, and the present sides have their own histories. Invited sides usually join the evening dancing around the pubs.
Check the individual sides' programmes for timings and stops, and look for schedules in pub windows on the day. The Morris Clown displays the different sides' schedules, which visitors can photograph. Start times and routes vary, so plan around the current programme. Enter private gardens only with the dancers, leave with the same side and respect the hosts.
