About
Bampton Community Archive
Housed in the Old Grammar School on Church View, Bampton Community Archive brings together photographs, documents, newspaper cuttings, sound and video recordings about village life. It holds regular local-history exhibitions, many with accompanying books, and the shop sells books, cards and locally sourced art and crafts. The searchable online catalogue gives you a way to explore the collection before or after visiting. Bampton Library also occupies the building, but has its own space.
The archive lists daily opening from 10am to 4pm, with occasional closures possible because it relies on volunteers. Check ahead if making a special journey or if you need specific access arrangements; detailed step-free access information is not published. Market Square offers short-stay parking for up to four hours, and Church Close is another option, subject to space and restrictions. Church View itself is narrow and is not recommended for parking.
