Downhouse Farm Holidays

Downhouse Farm Holidays sits on a working farm at Springhill, on the edge of Dursley, and offers two self-catering properties: a grade II listed farmhouse sleeping eight to ten guests, and a newly converted Granary Barn for up to four. The farmhouse has been in the same family for over three decades, and the building carries the marks of that history — exposed beams, original wooden shutters, a rediscovered fireplace that had been boarded up for decades, and a kitchen centred around an AGA with a farmhouse table seating eight.

Pigs root in the fields outside the barn, and in warmer months sheep graze beyond the patio. The Granary Barn was built with sustainability in mind: solar panels, battery storage, air source heat pump, and underfloor heating throughout.

The farmhouse suits groups and families wanting space — four bedrooms, two sitting rooms (one with a wood burner, one with original servants' bells still on the wall), a boot room for muddy boots and dogs, and a large enclosed garden with croquet lawn and seating under an apple tree. The Granary Barn is single-storey throughout and works well for couples or smaller families wanting something more compact; it is dog-friendly and accepts up to two dogs at no extra charge.

Both properties are self-catering with no breakfast provided. The farm is well-placed for walking the Cotswold Way and exploring the Severn Vale, with Uley Bury hillfort and Newark Park both close by.
