About this event

A new Macbeth for the big screen, with ambition at its darkest

Corinium Museum screens the Metropolitan Opera's new production of Verdi's Macbeth as part of The Met: Live in HD. Quinn Kelsey plays the Scottish king and Lise Davidsen is Lady Macbeth, with Freddie De Tommaso as Macduff and Ryan Speedo Green as Banquo, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Louisa Proske's staging brings Shakespeare's story of power, guilt and superstition together with Elizabethan imagery and contemporary elements, with English titles accompanying the Italian singing. The Met suggests it for ages 10 and up; it contains violence and discussions of infanticide.

The museum has scheduled the screening from 6pm to 9.30pm, so this is an evening to settle in rather than a quick film stop. Corinium Museum has full disabled access and accessible toilets, while Old Station Car Park is about a two-minute walk away; Brewery and Forum car parks are further options.

Ticketed. Limited availability; book through Corinium Museum.
