Shed Cinema -Exhibition on Screen: Frida Kahlo (12A)

This is cinema as art history lesson — 90 minutes immersed in Frida Kahlo's self-portraits, her pain, her defiance and that unmistakable unibrow, all rendered in vivid close-up on the big screen. Exhibition on Screen uses cutting-edge projection to reveal layers of symbolism and technique you'd never catch in a gallery, while interviews with curators and Kahlo's own words weave an intimate portrait of an artist who channelled suffering into revolution.

The film premiered during lockdown but returns now with fresh material from the Tate Britain and MFA Houston's major new Kahlo retrospective, so even if you caught the original, there's reason to come back. It's a visual feast for anyone who's ever been stopped short by her work — the intensity, the colour, the refusal to look away from difficulty or beauty.

Tickets are £12 in advance or £14 on the door
