RBO: Carmen

Carmen on the big screen, with the Royal Opera live

The Royal Opera's live cinema relay brings Damiano Michieletto's production of Bizet's Carmen to Corinium Museum. Ginger Costa-Jackson sings the title role alongside Russell Thomas as Don José, with Sesto Quatrini conducting a score that includes the Habanera and Toreador Song.

The opera is sung in French with English surtitles and runs for approximately three hours and 35 minutes, including one interval. The age guidance is eight and over, with sexual themes, violence and loud blank gunshots in Act I; the familiar tunes are part of a darker story of obsession and independence.
