Bacharach Through a Jazz Lens — Burford Festival

Burt Bacharach's songbook is one of the most covered in popular music, but this isn't a tribute act running through the hits. The Alex Steele Quintet takes the same material and reworks it as jazz — Alex Steele on piano, Catherine Sykes on vocals, Stuart Henderson on trumpet and flugel horn, Paul Jefferies on double bass, and Euan Palmer on drums. The arrangements are the point as much as the songs.

Part of the Burford Festival, the evening runs at Warwick Hall from 7:30 to 10pm. Thyme & Lovage Café are providing a sit-down menu from 6:30pm if you want to eat before the show — advance orders appreciated via hello@thymeandlovage.com — plus a bar menu running until 9pm. £26.02 including booking fee.
