The gardens of Burford Priory make a convincing backdrop for becoming a knight. That's exactly what Little Wild Things is using them for.

Children arrive, choose their dragon stone, and spend the morning working through the trials: obstacle course, spotting signs of dragons, making dragon cakes, sword practice. Since all good knights work closely with dragons, understanding them is an important part of the curriculum.

It ends at the campfire with marshmallows — and here's where the dragon stone earns its name, changing colour in the heat to mark the achievement. Every graduate leaves with a dragon scale necklace to prove they've passed.

£8 per child. Ninety minutes in the Priory gardens — the kind of morning they'll be talking about at dinner.
