The Georgia-raised Cash of the West End brings his own show to the Cidermill

Lars Pluto grew up in a Southern Baptist gospel bluegrass family outside Atlanta before ending up in London's West End, where for years he was the go-to actor for Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. He's since fronted a Nashville tribute across Australia and New Zealand and played Cash twice more on tours of Canada. Johnny & June is the show where he finally runs it himself, through his own company, Plutonium Stage Productions.

Alongside West End performer Jane Alexandra (Hairspray, Dirty Dancing) as June Carter, Pluto fronts a live band through Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire, Jackson and I Walk the Line, with AV projections tracking the pair's story across a full two-hour show rather than a straight run of hits. It follows the pull between a daughter of country music's first family and the singer who kept landing in trouble, from the Sun Records years to the Carter Family stage that eventually steadied him.

Even the songs you already know from the radio land differently once you've sat through how June kept pulling Johnny back.
