Music & ArtsShadowing Hank: A Tribute to Hank Marvin

About this event
Hadestown won eight Tony Awards on Broadway in 2019, including Best Musical. Anaïs Mitchell spent over a decade developing it from a Vermont folk opera concept album into a sung-through show that draws on American folk, New Orleans jazz, and Depression-era blues to retell the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone. It is not light material for a youth company to take on.
Buttercross Theatre Productions has been running out of the Corn Exchange for years, putting Witney young people through musicals that most youth groups would shy away from. This production of the Teen Edition follows their work on Chicago, Six, and Avenue Q. The story follows Orpheus, who descends into the underworld to rescue Eurydice from King Hades and his industrial hellscape, armed with nothing but his music. The ending is the same as it always was, which is the point.
There are 3 shows Friday 17 July 7:30pm Saturday 18 July 1:45pm and Saturday 18 July 7:30pm.
