About this event
The Abbey Grounds is one of those rare town-centre parks that actually deserves the setting. Ringed by the old abbey ruins and a minute's walk from the market place, it has hosted summer band concerts for decades, and this is the series at its most straightforward: a local brass band, a grass lawn, and a Sunday afternoon.
Frampton Silver Band makes the trip up from Frampton on Severn, the quiet Severn Vale village about nine miles south-west of Gloucester. They are a fourth-section contesting band that plays throughout the year, from Christmas concerts in the village to outdoor summer dates like this one. Expect a relaxed programme of brass band staples, marches and popular arrangements, played to whoever turns up with a blanket and a picnic.
The event runs from 2:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon. It is weather-dependent and outdoors, so check the forecast before you leave. There are no tickets, no booking, no barriers.
Free entry.
