Daytime Cinema: The Penguin Lessons

A penguin friendship set against a country in crisis

A disillusioned English teacher arrives in Argentina expecting an easy job, then rescues an oil-slicked penguin from a beach. The story follows his personal and political awakening as the country around him falls into crisis.

Steve Coogan stars in this comedy drama directed by Peter Cattaneo. The film is rated 12A and runs for about 112 minutes, with content advice covering upsetting animal scenes, violence, infrequent strong language and sex references.

The venue has step-free entrances, lift access and reserved wheelchair spaces for seated shows, with extra requirements handled by the box office. Woolgate Car Park is a short walk away, although the venue advises checking parking restrictions before travelling. It is a practical weekday matinee for filmgoers who want something stranger and darker than the title suggests.
