Daytime Cinema: The Great Escaper

The marriage behind Bernard Jordan's D-Day journey

The Great Escaper follows Second World War veteran Bernard Jordan as he slips away from his care home to attend the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy. Oliver Parker's drama also follows the marriage behind the 48-hour journey, with Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson in the central roles.

This daytime screening is rated 12A and runs for about 97 minutes. The BBFC notes infrequent strong language, moderate sex references, wartime threat, bereavement and themes around ageing and mental health.

The Corn Exchange has step-free entrances, level access to the Main Hall and wheelchair space for seated shows. Woolgate Car Park is a short walk away, although time limits vary, and the S1 and S2 buses stop at Market Square.
