Carmen Co A Pocket Opera

Carmen Told from Her Own Point of View

CarmenCo Trio are three Royal Academy of Music graduates who have taken Bizet's most famous opera and turned it into something a concert hall can't quite contain. They perform entirely from memory, which means they can move, act, dance while playing, and pull the audience into scenes with them.

The show follows the story of Carmen but flips the perspective: what did she actually think of the men around her, and did she have any idea how it would end?

The music draws on Bizet alongside Spanish and Spanish-inspired works by Boccherini, Falla, Granados, Ravel and Albeniz, all arranged for two guitars and flute and voice by the musicians themselves. Expect comedy, drama and a fully choreographed party scene in which things get pleasantly chaotic.

St Andrew's Church in Chedworth provides the right kind of intimacy for a show built around proximity.
