About this event

How 300 Photographers Raised £1.225m for Wildlife

In 2015 Margot Raggett MBE had an idea: bring wildlife photographers together to make a fundraising book. The first — Remembering Elephants — worked. So she made another. Then another. Ten years on, the Remembering Wildlife series spans elephants, rhinos, great apes, lions, cheetahs, African wild dogs, bears, leopards and tigers — 300 photographers, 55,000 copies sold worldwide, and £1.225m raised for conservation projects across Africa and Asia.

At this Burford Festival talk, Margot walks through the photographers behind the books, the projects the money is funding, and the argument behind the title — that wildlife conservation needs the kind of mass mobilisation that Live Aid gave the famine crisis in 1985.

Part of the Burford Festival programme running 11–21 June. Tickets £10.
