The Old Spot leans Italian and unfussy: sourdough pizzas fired to order, sharing plates of prosciutto and caprese, pasta dishes built around whatever the kitchen garden is growing. Nearly everything is organic and most of it comes from Daylesford's own farm, creamery and bakery on the estate. The venue holds 75 covers, with outdoor tables in the farmshop courtyard when the weather allows.

Open for lunch every day and for dinner Wednesday to Saturday, it suits people who want to eat well without booking several weeks ahead or dressing up for it.

The menu is seasonal and rotates, but the wood-fired pizzas are a constant — the nduja with Windrush goat's cheese is worth seeking out. Service can be relaxed to a fault at busy periods, and the surroundings carry the Daylesford premium, but for a proper farm-estate lunch in the northern Cotswolds it's hard to beat.
